Ohio casinos are limited to horse raceways. Ohio has a variety of horse racing establishments to offer visitors who wish to gamble. Some of these raceways also feature telecasts and dining for added entertainment and enjoyment for guests. Ohio casinos may not be exactly like those found elsewhere, but they do offer some great fun and a good time to guests.

Ohio is a mid-western state located right off the Great Lakes. Bordered to the north by Lake Erie, Ohio consists of 44,828 square miles of land and water. It became a state on March 1, 1803 as the 17th state. Ohio's population was at 11,353,140 in December of 2000. Its nickname, The Buckeye State, refers to the beautiful Buckeye trees that grow wild throughout the state. The state capital, Columbus, is home to the famous Ohio State Buckeye football team.

Ohio's horse racing establishments can be found at different points around the state. Most of these establishments offer live horse racing and thoroughbred racing. These raceways are the closest to an Ohio casino a guest can get. Ohio has, in the past, gave voters the chance to add riverboat casinos to Ohio's gambling choices, but as of yet the option has not been enacted.

River Downs racing facility is located at 6301 Kellogg Avenue in Cincinnati. River Downs is open everyday from 11:45am to midnight. It features two race tracks where guests can watch live horse racing. River Downs also has two on-site restaurants.

Beulah Park is in Grove City at 3664 Grant Avenue. This racing facility has two tracks with thoroughbred racing. The track is open everyday from 11am to 8:30pm. There is one on-site restaurant.

Thistledown is located at 21501 Emery Road in North Randall. There is one track that showcases both live and thoroughbred racing. This track also provides racing telecasts daily. The racing on the track is conducted Thursday through Monday starting at 1:15pm. There is one on-site restaurant.

These four racing establishments only represent a portion of what is available in Ohio. Even though, Ohio casinos are not the typical slot machine and gaming table type casinos, they do offer the chance for some great betting. Horse racing is popular throughout the United States and serious horse racing enthusiasts should definitely stop in at one of Ohio's great horse raceways.
