Kentucky is a southern state that provides some great horse racing entertainment. Gamblers are not going to find traditional Kentucky casinos. Kentucky casinos are not filled with game tables or card games, but they do offer gamblers the chance to experience some of the finest horse racing in the United States.

Kentucky became the 15th state on June 1, 1792. It occupies 40411 square miles and is bordered to the west by the Ohio River. It is nicknamed "The Bluegrass State". The capital city of Kentucky is Frankfort. The population as of December 2000 is 4,041,769. Kentucky is famous for its horse racing and beautiful blue grass that flows over its landscape.

Churchill Downs is perhaps one of the most famous horse racing establishments and it is located in Kentucky. Guests will find Churchill Downs in Louisville at 700 Central Avenue. This is a two-track facility that is home to some of the most famous races in the United States.

Kentucky Downs is another well-known racing establishment. Home to a one mile track, Kentucky Downs showcases thoroughbred racing and telecasts of racing. It is located at 5629 Nashville Road in Franklin.

Ellis Park is located at 3300 US Highway 41 North in Henderson. The recent site of a 2005 tornado, Ellis Park is being restored. There are four on-site restaurants for guests' comfort and enjoyment.

Located in Prestonsburg, Thunder Ridge horse track has live harness races, telecast racing and an on-site restaurant. Thunder Ridge is at 164 Kentucky Route 3 near Lancer Water and Gap Road. Live racing is available October through November with other hours Wednesday through Tuesday from noon to midnight.

Kentucky, like many other states, is not open to casino gambling. Kentucky casinos are horseracing establishments that allow guests to enjoy a variety of racing. Kentucky horse racing is famous for providing good times and great events to every guest that visits. While guests won't find an actual Kentucky casino, they will find a high rolling time at one of the state's great racing establishments.
